Written Analysis V

Overall, getting to know the popular culture is very important, especially in the business world. It is very important to not stereotype certain things or people, because assuming can lead you down the wrong road. By getting to know a situation before judging it or assuming you know what happened can save you a lot of trouble and regret in the future. This can also be true about people. Getting to know a person before stereotyping them could save yourself from let down, or even embarrassing yourself.

There were a lot of interesting things I found in this class, but my favorite finding was researching magazines between the years 1961-1991. I found that it was very interesting that a lot of the same magazines circulate today, and not only are they still circulating, but the covers are also very similar. Although the quality of the pictures have changed, and the styles have evolved over the years, I found it very interesting how similar these magazines were to the ones that we have today.

After studying popular culture, I realized how important it is to be aware of the American culture that is around you. When you get to know your surroundings, what people value, and what is or isn't important, it can give you the upper hand in a lot of situations. It can also help one avoid trouble if you know what to stay away from, and what is fair game. Learning about stereotypes and how important it is to get to know a person before making assumptions can save you from tough situations. Popular culture is something that is very important to be aware of, because it is everywhere.
