When I think of popular culture, I think of everything that society creates that the majority of the population does, wears, etc. For example, the style of clothing around this time of year would be leggings, boots, and scarfs. Facebook and Instagram are social networks that would be considered popular culture, because the majority of our population uses these social networks.
In a business environment, popular culture would be the way businesses go about with their businesses. The technology they use, the way they promote or advertise their business, or the company performs their services.
The iPhone 6 would probably be the most popular artifact currently, because it was introduced and everyone knew it was out. Over the next few months, people will switch their phones out for this new iPhone.
Andrea,
ReplyDeleteYour view on pop culture is very true and I totally agree with you. It's amazing with the style of clothing going on how people a few years from now will view what we wore today, just like how people view what was worn years ago. The social networks seem to control every part of our everyday activities. I don't care were you go whether it be school, your job, or where you eat everything is driven on Facebook, instagram, or some other social network. I can still remember when myspace was around and everyone was hooked on that and then Facebook hit the Internet strong and dominated over them. The Iphone 6 still keeps me guessing how people will wait hours among hours for a phone when they could get the phone the next week after it comes out everywhere. The bad thing for those people is they know the next bigger thing (or phone) will probably be out within 6 months of them getting this new phone. Great blog!!
Yes, I would have to agree that the iPhone is a large part of popular culture. This devise not only allows users to stay connected to other areas of popular culture like Facebook, Pinterest, and Twitter but also creates its own buzz among people for its major releases around the world. Most phones don’t get announced on the news as to when it will be released and what they offer, but the iPhone seems to always have its own segments to inform future users of release dates and new features. The funny thing about this particular instrument of popular culture is that it is designed to keep people connected but actually creates a level of isolation to which people are losing physical social skills.
