Written Analysis II

Prison Break is a show that was about a man who was sent to prison and put on death row even though he was completely innocent. During this show there were many examples of stereotypes displayed by the characters, and there were also many different rituals performed over the course of the show.

The stereotypes that were demonstrated in this show ranged from the prison guards to the inmates. The inmates stereotyped all of the new comers by calling them "fish." The characters would stereotype them as weak, and would make them the center of attention and the most likely to be picked on. Other stereotypes included feminine men, who were automatically considered gay even if this was not true. The women guards were also stereotyped as weaker than the male guards in this show.

On top of examples of stereotypes being displayed in this show, there were also examples of rituals. An example of a ritual in the prison would be how all of the inmates would line up and harass all of the new inmates when they were walking in. There were also rituals for the people who were finally being released, the people on death row, and funeral rituals when inmates would die.

During the course of the season, Prison Break demonstrated many examples of rituals and stereotypes.
